Steve qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and has specialised in employment law ever since. Prior to joining Taylor Bracewell, he was Head of Employment at Wilson Browne Solicitors. Prior to that, he worked for Harrison Clark Rickerbys in Worcecster, where he often dealt with complex Employment Tribunal and High Court litigation cases. Steve finds his work as an employment solicitor very rewarding. “Next to family and friends, work is often the most important aspect of people's lives and when it goes wrong can cause significant stress and unhappiness”, he says. “It gives me a lot of pride when I am able to help find a resolution to the problem, hopefully without the need for litigation. For the employer side, I enjoy working with companies of all sizes to help find timely and practical solutions to employee relation issues, allowing them to focus on running their business.” Steve has plenty to keep him busy outside of work. At the time of joining the firm, he is busy planning his wedding, and he and his fiancé have an 11-week-old baby girl. Steve loves sport and, in particular, playing football (he plays for the New Bohemians FC in Sheffield) and golf. A keen runner, he completed the New York marathon in 2008.

Jessica is an Employment Layer who has worked her way up through the Employment Law department since joining the firm as a business administration apprentice in July 2011. Since completing her apprenticeship in July 2012, Jess has been working hard studying with CILEx and is well on her way to qualifying as a Legal Executive within the next couple of years. Jess believes that working towards her qualifications this way has given her a deeper understanding of employment law and HR. Jess has assisted on a wide range of employment law matters, from helping a claimant pursue a complex disability and race discrimination claim, to helping a business remove Director in challenging circumstances, and advising a local charity on dealing with a number of redundancies in an unfortunate situation within very tight timescales. Jess assists in delivering our first class, fully inclusive HR package, the Bulletproof Protection plan and really enjoys getting to know our clients on an individual basis. Jess is also involved in organising Taylor Bracewell’s series of HR & Employment Law seminars which gives our attendees the opportunity to put their questions directly to our HR and Employment Law experts.

I joined Taylor Bracewell in June 2015 under the Apprenticeship Scheme after completing my AS Levels at King Edwards VII 6th Form. After completing my Apprenticeship I was offered a full time post assisting the Employment Law Team and general admin jobs. I love working within the Employment Law Team as the work is exciting and my colleagues are great to work with. I am hoping to begin a CILEX course soon to widen my knowledge of Law and be able to progress within the firm.
